Title: Can IMatch search content of searchable pdf files?
Post by: newmikeman on April 03, 2021, 11:58:05 PM
I have a lot of searchable pdfs generated by my Fujitsu scanner and I don't find the Fujitsu software very useful for searching. The scanning process includes recognizing text and storing it in the pdf. The "manage" process lets you explore the folders containing the pdfs and show low-res thumbnails. I wondered if maybe IMatch would be able to do a better job?
Thanks

All data ExifTool could extract from your PDF file is displayed in the Metadata Panel. Switch to the "Browser" layout if the normal PDF layout does not show all tags.
IMatch can search in all tags displayed there. Usually this includes metadata  like title, description, author info etc. IMatch does not do text recognition or OCR for PDF files, though.

If the FUJI PDF software has added non-standard tags which are not automatically imported, check the Tag Manager (https://www.photools.com/help/imatch/#rmh_config_metadata_tagman.htm) to see what else might be of interest for you.
