Title: Strange characters in People view
Post by: Mees Dekker on April 25, 2021, 12:52:15 PM
Since Mario announced some promising updates for the people view, I tried the people view (anew). However:the dates of birth and death are shown in a strange language (possibly Russian?) (see attachment, I omitted the picture).

My computer (W10) is set to Dutch and in no other application I see this strange language. Did switch the language of Imatch, rebooted my computer, but still these strange characters turn up. Ran a database diagnosis: no errors found.

Anybody an idea what causes this and/or how to fix this?

I think we had the same a couple of months ago. Also for a user from the Netherlands, I believe.
The user had dialed in the wrong App Locale (https://www.photools.com/help/imatch/#rmh_config_appsettings.htm?dl=h-8).

Thanks for your answer.

That indeed solved the problem. I changed the App Locale to UK in order to be able to use Ordnance Survey maps. At the time, that seemed to be necessary to use them.

But I changed back to NL and still the Ordnance Survey are accessible.

That explains that, then. Because uk stands for Ukraine, not for United Kingdom (that would be en-GB) ;)

Yes, oops. I'm sure many users fall for that one. Me included.
But I don't make the web browser/international ISO standard language codes...  ;)

Another benefit of 3-character ISO country codes: Ukraine = UKR.

IMatch offers what the browser component understands.
