I click the notify button against a thread on this bulletin board but don't get a notification email when a comment is posted.
There is nothing in my email inbasket and nothing in my email spam folder.
Seems to work here. But a lot can go wrong these days with emails, especially if you use one o the very restrictive email hosts like Google or comcast or hotmail.
Same here. It used to work properly until recently but alas, no longer
Nothing has changed with the community configuration, and there is almost nothing related to sending emails (except for the sender email address to use, which has not changed in a long time).
Maybe something on the mail server. Security is being pulled tighter and tighter to fight all the SPAMmers and people sending out emails from faked sender addresses.
But I've just received the forum email for this thread and Mees' post (I have subscribed to this thread yesterday):
A reply has been posted to a topic you are watching by Mees Dekker.

so the system is sending email notifications.
As you said: it works for you but no longer for me.
However, I check several times a day to see if there any new items on the forum. So I don't miss any news.
It's a puzzle. I use Feedly with rss feed so hopefully I won't miss anything either.
Just received an email about new posts in this thread.
The system is sending emails. Else no new users could join etc.
What is the email address sending the notifications. Maybe I could try whitelisting it or asking my email provider. Perhaps you could send me the you receive with the email header and I will ask them to investigate
I have provided you with the email used in an email I've sent to you two hours ago.
I've also sent an email from this account to you this morning. I've got no bounce back but a delivery notice. So either your ISP is deleting emails without telling you, or it is in a SPAM folder.
Just received the email about a new post in this topic:

More replies may be posted, but you won't receive any more notifications until you read the topic.

The photools.com Community Team.
I also don't get notifications
SPAM filter. Ask your provider.
I did sent an email with Outlook to Stefanjan from the same email used by this community.
No bounce back. And no reply from Stefanjan. This means that the email has been accepted by Stefanjan's server, but never delivered to him.
Typical "Anti-SPAM" procedure of sorts.
As I was still not receiving email notifications, I decided to try changing my email address but still did not get any notifications and consequently locked myself out of imatch.
So created a new forum account stefanjan2 (old one stefanjan) and the email notifications seem to be working.
I'm wondering whether the issue was with stefanjan in the forum database? Anyway pleased that I now seem to get notifications.
In 99.9% of all reasons a user does not get email notifications (you can also get notifications via the alert options at the top):
1. the user has not enabled notifications in his user profile
Click on your user name at the top and in the drop-down menu choose Notifications.
Check which notifications you want to receive as alters and which you want to receive via email
2. the emails sent by the community are blocked by the users ISP. Nothing I can do about this. Especially if you use comcast or Google Mail.
Google is notorious for dropping emails without notifying the sender (else I would see bounce backs in the mail server logs) or the user. It's for your protection. On the other hand, 95% of all SPAM bot registrations in this community now use gmail email addresses...

It could be the Notification Settings in your Forum Account.
I recall that after Mario did the SMF upgrade, some Notification Options in my profile had the
Notify Option set but not the
Email Option.
