Title: moving the preview cache folder
Post by: neal on September 10, 2021, 03:08:22 PM
The default cache folder in c: is causing my c drive to become full. I moved it to d:\preview cache and copied all the files there. However, I cannot delete the old folder and files keep writing into it. How to stop this so that only the d: one works?

You must also give IMatch the new place to store.
I guess, after you did this, you can delete the old one.

See my attachement, I have it e.g. in the folder E.

I did that but IM continues to use the old location. Even if I delete the c:\previewcache folder, I writes itself again! I tried rebooting but no joy,

Are you using IMatch or IMatch Anywhere? They use separate cache folders!
You are posting in a board for IMatch, not in a board for IMatch Anywhere - so this is confusing perhaps.

Please see the IMatch Anywhere documentation to learn how to configure the cache folder used by IMatch Anywhere.

Show me a log file from a session after you have changed the cache folder path in the settings (see log file (https://www.photools.com/help/imatch/#im_logfile.htm)).

I always use a custom cache folder for IMatch, and it always works.

IMatch reports that the preview cache is D:\previewcache\7B65D9EF-9DCF-401E-B34F-CB3905ABD16C\ and it is loading cache images from there, e.g. for the file with the OID 4690.
No cache image was created in this session, but this is the only cache folder IMatch uses.
