Under View->App Views -> Imatch Timeline view we get the timeline
that is used with events. The same name as the previously already existing Timeline view is
sure to cause confusion. I suggest a different name and a corresponding help file entry.
This menu entry is a left-over from some developer tests. I will remove it.
Sorry to hear that. I liked it and was going to suggest to allow double clicking
on an event to switch to event view.
(The event timeline gets crowded quickly and having it full screen is nice.)
The Timeline is not designed to be used in that mode (it creates a second instance of the app, which can cause all kinds of side-effects). I have never tested that.
You can quickly find any event in the Event View using Ctrl+F.
You can use the same feature to limit the events you see, which also usually greatly reduces the time span that has to be shown, compacting the timeline further.
If you disable the file timeline, the timeline compacts to show only events, without any time between them. This makes for a very compact view.
You can make the Event View full-screen at any time by:
1. Hiding all panels with <F9>,<Backspace>
2. Clicking on the maximize button in the Event View:

Was not aware of F9 BS.
Tried it and found the following problem:
I have Versions, Attributes and Output panels located closed on the bottom. (See screenshot)
When I return from the full screen I find that these three panels are expanded! (screenshot 2)
(Tried it also with a closed panel on the right side; the same-it also expands.)
This is how it works. I have a feature request open for almost 2 years with the company creating the user interface toolkit I use for IMatch.
If this is a problem for you, you cannot use F9,Backspace, sorry.
I keep this as a separate reply so as not to get mixed up:
QuoteIf you disable the file timeline, the timeline compacts to show only events, without any time between them.
I see only an option to enable
Files Calendar. I am unable to
show events without any time between themLayout: Minimal
Setup: see screenshot
Yes. Files Calendar.
But as you can see from the second screenshot there are gaps between events.
Switch to a layout which shows the event durations. I'm sure your events are overlapping.
QuoteI'm sure your events are overlapping
They are. So no compact display in that case.
Overlapping events cannot be further compacted. The time span covered by the event must be visible, else the display would be misleading.
Press Ctrl+F for the most condense display of your events - as a plain list. Search and filter the list as needed.
Click on an event in the list to bring it into view in the timeline.
Use favorites to set anchor points in your timeline for super-zippy navigation over wide time distances.
