Title: 355,311 Files - Time To Display (16 sec. Vs. 9 sec)
Post by: Darius1968 on November 27, 2021, 07:16:54 AM
The log file (debug-mode), I'm attaching, here represents, switching between two categories - one containing just over 2K files; the other, the total # files in the DB (355,311).
With respect to @All (355,311 files):  It's taking just 9 sec. to render everything, in the file window, if I'm using the "File Name" sort preset.  However, as has been, hopefully documented, in the log file, I'm experiencing a 16 sec. render-time, if I invoke a sort preset, "Aspect Ratio", which is simply, based on an a text attribute, "File.Info.Aspect Ratio".  What is it, about this sort preset, that is doubling the time, to display all my files?

It takes longer because IMatch has to load lots of metadata from the database to sort the files. Perfectly normal.
File Names are cached in memory, metadata is not.
