Title: Taken on Today's Date (another version)
Post by: JohnZeman on January 20, 2022, 05:49:31 PM
I love this latest update to IMatch, especially the enhancements to finding photos taken on today's MM-DD date over the years.  While Today over the Years in Events does everything I want, just for the fun of it I decided to see how using the new category operator @YearsAgo[] could be used.  And the bottom line is, I like it, I like it a lot.

For anyone who might be interested in this I created 2 new categories.
The first one is a formula category that returns all photos taken on this date over the past 29 years.

And the second new category is a data-driven category that groups the photos returned by the formula category into individual years.  So far it's returned results fairly quickly and there are no result windows I need to close later on.

Thanks for sharing  :)
I pondered including as new standard category based on @YearsAgo[] but then thought the Event View feature is more visual and also may introduce some new users to Events.

John,

thanks a lot!!! When I have the new version, I will check it out for sure!  :D
But for new versions, I use some time, I read the release text from Mario and check it and so on (specially when variables changes, I have to check a lot), and now I have not this time.
But I hope, next week!

Great, what Mario packed again in this new versions, when I quickly scan over the new stuff ....  :)

John, this is superb. It works like a breeze for me. I even prefer it it over the Event view - but shhh! please don't tell Mario.
Thanks for sharing.

That's why I've implemented the new @YearsAgo[] operator.

Wie an anderer Stelle mal   https://www.photools.com/community/index.php?topic=12094.msg86273#msg86273  beschrieben, erreiche ich mit  einer inzwischen etwas geänderten Version der datengestützten Kategorie das gleiche Ergebnis:

As described elsewhere https://www.photools.com/community/index.php?topic=12094.msg86273#msg86273, I achieve the same result with a now slightly modified version of the data-based category:

{File.DateTime|format:MM-DD;is:{Application.DateTime|format:MM-DD}, Der {Application.DateTime|format:DD.MM} im Jahr  {File.DateTime|format:YYYY},}

I like this in categories not in Events. More handy, easier to browse. Thanks for all!

I cannot find this operator. Nor does the help give any clue (when I'm looking for "yearsago" or "chronology")

Obviously, I'm missing something, but can anybody point me in the wright direction?

It's in the Category Formulas help topic:
@YearsAgo[] (https://www.photools.com/help/imatch/#cat_formulas.htm?dl=h-37)

I can also find it via the help search by searching for @yea

Maybe clear the cache of your browser if you don't see it? Maybe some weird caching issue...
