Title: How to avoid enless loops with Lightroom
Post by: rienvanham on January 31, 2022, 01:35:11 PM
I don't know if I oversee something but I have the following issue:
- Change keyword(s) in iMatch;
- Write these settings to the file;
- Lightroom reports: file has been changed; reread the metadata;
- Lightroom reports: unchanged data is present;
- Save the metadata in Lightroom;
- iMatch "sees" the changes and shows the pencil;

etc. So it is a loop which don't end. Wat am I overseeiing?

Thanks in advance!

Rien.

This is just how it works.
IMatch writes modified metadata to the file.
Lightroom imports the modified metadata and may produce additional metadata which it needs to write.
After Lightroom has written the metadata, IMatch needs to re-import the file to see what Lightroom has changed.

It is general not a great workflow when you modify metadata in multiple applications. Adobe products are fairly safe, but there is always the issue with the competing XMP updates.
Adobe did not design XMP for inter-application operability. Adobe is not interested in non-Adobe products or workflows.
