Title: Tag Manager - QuickTime and Apple Groups -Needed or Not Really?
Post by: PandDLong on February 22, 2022, 09:42:06 PM

I am using the Tag Manager to make sure I am not over-populating my database (and creating extra scrolling in the Metadata Browser).  There are a lot - over 20 - of Apple and QuickTime tag groups (and Apple devices are popular in my family so I have lots of files from Apple products).

Can I exclude them all or are some of them used by iMatch to compute other tags (eg. the Date Subject Created and/or Date Created) or to display the thumbnails/images?  Or has iMatch already protected the useful Apple/QuickTime tag groups so they don't show up in the Tag Manager?

Thanks in advance.

Michael

IMatch does not allow you to disable important tags.
As for QuickTime tags, most of the tags not included by default are noise. Unless you need them for some purpose.
Basically, Apple adds and removes QuickTime tags in any way they like, across op sys versions and devices. QuickTime tags are no official standard, just an Apple metadata sump.
