Title: Database size: mine ca. 5Mb/1000 images
Post by: Aubrey on May 01, 2022, 09:51:33 AM
Just completed a compaction after adding ca. 1000 files.
Compared with last compaction  database size increased by 5 Mb.
I've over 100,000 images in db, and gatebase size is 4.7Gb.

So looks like 5 Mb per 1000 images is average. Of course all will depend on thumbnail size, I'm using 300.

Is there a question?

Metadata and thumbnails take up most of the space in your database.
5 GB for 100,000 files is nothing.
IMatch has virtually no limit at how large the database can become. For larger databases, 50 GB or more is not uncommon.
The size of the database on disk has only a very small impact on performance.

No question just a comment.
Everything working smoothly here, great product, integrates nicely with my Photolab 5 (DxO)/ Affinity (for panos etc.) workflow.
