Title: Simple file copy
Post by: mopperle on October 24, 2022, 08:29:29 PM
I have made a collection of several files in IM. Now I want to copy the physical files to another location (folder, drive etc.) outside the IM world. I have read in the help system, when doing so by using Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V IM performs additionally some database operations, slowing down the copy process. But I do not want those operations. They make no sense, when I just want to hand out files to somebody else. Is there no other way?

Not sure what you read and where (link?) but just hold down <Ctrl> and drag the files to Windows Explorer to copy them.
Ctrl+C, Ctrl+V in Explorer also works.
This is as fast as Windows Explorer can copy files.

That's why I'm asking. But I tested it and indeed it works as it should. So the comment in the help system is a bit misleading

This commend refers to the extra operations IMatch has to perform when you copy files within the database.
In that case it must not only copy the files, but also copy thumbnails, metadata, collections, update categories, face data etc.
Not when you simply copy files to a location not indexed by IMatch.
