Title: Multiple color labels
Post by: paddy1 on December 18, 2022, 06:19:48 PM
Hello Mario
Is it possible to assign two, or more, color labels to a single file ? Or two, or more, color pins to a single file ?
May I take this opportunity to wish you a Happy Christmas and thank you for all the work you put in to this exceptional application.

No. The label is stored in XMP metadata and XMP allows for one label only.

IMatch associates one color with each individual label text.
You can configure custom labels under Edit menu > Preferences > Metadata and associate colors. See XMP Labels (https://www.photools.com/help/imatch/rmh_config_metadata.htm?dl=h-5) for details.

If you create color-coded categories (The Category Properties Tab) (https://www.photools.com/help/imatch/cat_basics.htm#?dl=h-34) and show the category color bar in File Windows, you can "associate" up to 20 colors with each file.

A Happy Christmas to you and your family.

As far as I know, the Label is single-value only. You can not assign multiple labels to the same file.
For Pins, you can set one, two, or all three Pins for the same file.

Depending on what you want to achieve, you could also use IMatch categories (which can also be color-coded).

Many thanks to both Mario and Thrinn, each of whom has revealed a hitherto unnoticed (to me) detail.
