Title: Which setting in IM5 creates xmp-files?
Post by: Gerd on November 14, 2013, 03:29:49 PM
Hi,

label and ratings are transferred from LR to IM5, no problem. Only the way from IM5 to LR does not work. After setting a label to a cr2-file and clicking on the yellow pencil, the pencil disappears, I see the actiopn with read and write and so on, I see the changes in the metadata-panel, I only miss the xmp-file in the directory ...

Which setting in IM5 is responsible for xmp-file-creation?

Check your settings under Edit > Preferences > Metadata 2.
LR only recognizes metadata in separate .XMP files for CR2 and CRW files.

All these options are obsolete for build 124 (just released).

For CRW/CR2 files you must read/write separate sidecar files, LR supports only that.
In the old dialog, the "Always write XMP" would be the correct setting.
In build .124 the defaults for all RAW files are to read/write XMP sidecar files.
