Title: Metadata Write Back
Post by: robbo56gbr on March 03, 2023, 12:50:06 PM
I have 24 files that need writeback
I use the command Metadata Writeback - For all Pending files.

I get prompt that 24 files pending, writeback now? I select Yes

When I come back to command, still there are 24 pending.

I am not sure why the writeback appeared not to work.

Is there an easy way to find these files and understand what I am nissing?
Thanks

Point the mouse cursor at the pen icon to see which tags IMatch needs to write. I'm quite sure it's keywords (subject).
Write-back again.

See Metadata Problems and Pitfalls (https://www.photools.com/help/imatch/md_for_beginners.htm?dl=md_problems) in the IMatch help which describes the most common metadata problems,
including this one: Files Pending Again After Write-Back (https://www.photools.com/help/imatch/md_for_beginners.htm?dl=h-51)

You can see it under "Collections" or in the Dashboard:

Good info, thanks.

The IMatch Dashboard (https://www.photools.com/help/imatch/dashboard.htm)

Once I identified the files using the Collections, it was obvious - the files were read only !

Thanks all

IMatch displays a message when one or more files for the write-back are marked as read-only (red shield icon in the File Window thumbnail panel). If it encounters read-only files while writing (file system permissions) it shows a message after the write-back has completed.
