Title: Pending Metadata Write-Back on TXT-files
Post by: Jim K. on August 18, 2023, 12:03:29 PM
My Folders contain sometimes TXT-files I have created in the past to do comments on photos.
After importing my folderstructure I now found these TXT-files pending for Metadata Write-back; list of tags to write (according to IMatch):
XMP::exif\DateTimeOriginal
XMP::photoshop\DateCreated
XMP::xmp\CreateDate

Why does IMatch treats simple TXT-files as photos and how to proceed?

IMatch will write the data to XMP sidecar files when you write back.

IMatch manages XMP metadata for all files you add to your database.
For image files, the XMP data is written to the image itself or to XMP sidecar files.
PDF files and some video formats also support embedded XMP data.

For all other files managed in your database, IMatch stores metadata it or you creates in XMP sidecar files.

This allows you to rate, label, describe, tag etc. all files alike.
And to persist the data in a format that can be read and understand by many other applications.
