Title: Deleting files
Post by: FoxbatFlyer on January 29, 2024, 01:21:24 PM
I have a folder containing quite a number of RAW files (.CR3) and their corresponding jpgs. (E.G. IMG_1234.CR3 and IMG_1234.JPG).

I wish to delete the RAW files only and keep the JPGs.

If I use CTRL Del on the CR3 file, IMatch deletes both the CR3 and jpg. However, if I use CTRL Del on the jpg, then the jpg file will be deleted and the CR3 file will remain (which is the opposite of what I want to achieve).

TIA for your thoughts on this

Drew

This sounds as if you have configured JPG files as buddy files for CR3.
See File Relations: Buddy Files (https://www.photools.com/help/imatch/rel_buddy.htm?dl=hid-1)

This usually makes sense, since most users want to keep the master files and buddy files together when the master is copied, moved, renamed or deleted.

If you don't want this, uncheck the buddy file relation for CR3 files in Edit menu > Preferences > File Relations.
Either permanently, or temporarily before you delete CR3 files but want to keep the JPG buddy files.
