Title: Error message from IMatch Updater
Post by: Tony on February 14, 2024, 09:09:36 AM
Hello,

I'm getting an error message from IMatch Updater saying "An error occurred (5). Try it again later.". I'm on 2023.6.6.

I got the same error message on the previous version I was on (I don't remember which). So I had to download the new version from the customer portal and update IMatch manually.

What does error 5 indicate, so I know where to start looking?

Attach the IMatch log file of that session.
That's a catch-all error message and 5 indicates a timeout.
If the updater cannot connect to the server within 5000ms (5s) it cancels the request and displays the error message. The typical response time is < 500ms.

Do you have a particularly slow internet connection?

I have 100/100 Mbps and no issues with the connection as far as I can see.

I've attached the log file. I seem to get a 403 error code in response when checking for a new version. I am connecting through a VPN. If I disconnect the VPN the update procedure is working.

Which web hosting service are you using for the update checks?

My servers are hosted by a German company in order to comply with GDPR and reliability.
Not sure if a VPN should cause any issue, unless the VPN IP was blocked by the hosting company for some reason (abuse or SPAM, usually).

I can see where you're hosting. And I indeed get 403 when I visit their web page. I'll contact their support and also my VPN provider to see if this can be resolved.
