Title: AutoFill keyboard shortcut
Post by: JohnZeman on May 26, 2024, 04:57:25 PM
Even though I don't see this keyboard shortcut in the menu I noticed using the shortcut ALT+E, A opens the AutoFill configuration dialog which I like.  However when I create a New Automation shortcut using that keyboard shortcut nothing happens, why is that?

I've been loving the way AutoFill works.  Once I finish configuring AutoFill I'll be able to eliminate most of the 120 metadata templates I had been using.

This is not a "real" keyboard shortcut.

<Alt>+<E> opens the Edit menu, and the <A> key executes the Edit AutoFill command in that menu.
All menus in the main menu bar work that way.

See "Standard Menu Hotkeys" in the keyboard cheat sheet (https://www.photools.com/help/imatch/cheat_sheets.htm).

When a dialog box is open, all keyboard actions are sent by Windows to that dialog box (New Automation favorite) in your case. The main menu is not available.

Sounds good. AutoFill is a still often overlooked powerhouse for automating metadata input as much as possible. Since I want 'complete' metadata but I'm also lazy, I use AutoFill alot myself ;D

That explains it, thanks Mario.  I just noticed I can also open the AutoFill dialog from the metadata panel menu, that'll do what I want.  :)
