Title: Help with File Verifier?
Post by: sybersitizen on August 11, 2024, 07:39:49 PM
The File Verifier app is a really useful part of IMatch. I run it once in a while to confirm the integrity of my files.  When I ran it last night the report said '2 file(s) not found or inaccessible.'

Two files out of tens of thousands isn't too alarming. However, I didn't see a way to find the names of those files and I don't know why any of them would be missing or inaccessible. IMatch hasn't indicated any other anomalies in the database, and no problems are showing in the Dashboard.

I ran the app again today with Debug Logging enabled and got the same report at the end. I saved the log file at that point. Is there something I can look for to identify those filenames and correct the situation?

The files are offline and hence File Verifier cannot calculate a checksum for them and verification is not possible.

Don't select offline files for File Verifier
When you select a large amount of files, filter out offline files via the File Properties filter in the Filter Panel.
In the same way you can find offline files.

Yep, that was it, thanks. The filter did identify the two files for me, but it took quite a while. I wasn't sure anything was happening until I checked the 'spinning wheel' activity monitor in the lower right corner of the screen.
