Title: No, I'm not turning evil...
Post by: Mario on December 31, 2024, 02:58:28 PM
... and there is no sinister purpose behind this.

When you start IMatch 2025 and you have not yet entered your email address and license key under Edit menu > Preferences > Application, IMatch will ask you for this data:

The old Updater app is gone, and IMatch now favors the integrated updater to let you know about updates and to download, validate and install updates.

The data is stored in encrypted form in the IMatch settings database and you have to enter it only once. And again when you purchase a major upgrade, which provides you with a new license key.

I'm not stealing your data and my servers already know your email address and license key anyway. ;D

You may not be stealing our data, but someone has stolen your "n" (from "information")  ;D

Darn. The old n thief again. I gave it some cookies and got the n back. IMatch 2025 will ship with the correct spelling for this dialog. No guarantees about other dialogs or the 2025 help system :)

Looks as if IM2025 is not too far away. ;)

I hope so. External issues I have to attack and solve first caused a delay.
On the other hand, this gave me some extra of time to work with IMatch 2025 and to fine-tune things, from the UX to the help system. I think most people (except maybe developers) don't know how much work a project like IMatch causes.

I ping this just as a reminder that IMatch2025 prompting you to input the email and license key (which my customer database already has anyway) is NOT for evil purposes :D

IMatch now uses the built-in updater exclusively (the Updater app has been retired) and the Updater can only download updates when it has your email and license key. The data is stored in encrypted form in the IMatch settings database.
