Title: IMatch - new design
Post by: HG on February 09, 2025, 08:34:30 AM
Hello, at first thank you to Mario for the new version.
Unfortunately I'm unhappy with the new design. In my opinion the buttons and icons are to dominant on the screen. I would like to focus on my images, less to the tool itself. The old design (just my individual opinion) the design was more elegant. My question: "Is there a function available to change the design (theme ?)
Thank you in advance,
regards HGF

No, that's not possible (change the design), but you can change the size of the icons (make them smaller).

I would suggest you change your user name to something that is not your email (Click on your name at the top of the community website).
Bots scan communities like this to fish emails for malicious purposes, which is why the community hides users emails. If a user chooses his email address as his community name, there is nothing I can do. I wrote you a PM about this last week or so.

Thank you for your feedback on our new ribbons and icons. As many of you know, I conducted an extensive beta test for the new ribbons, menus, and icons last year here in this community, during which I gathered and addressed user input extensively. The current design reflects the insights from that period.
I'm always open to suggestions for future improvements, so please let me know if there's something specific you'd like me to consider going forward.

I created over 300 new icons in a clean and modern style. Unlike the old bitmap icons used for IMatch 2023 and earlier versions, these new icons are vector-based. This allows them to scale without any loss of quality, adapting seamlessly to any screen resolution or user preference.

I also created about 200 new screen shots for the help system, so what's shown there matches what users see on screen.

For info about resizing icons, tree icons, menu icons size etc, see here: High Resolution Monitors: Adapt Ribbon Size, Folder Icons and Icon Sizes (https://www.photools.com/help/imatch/rmh_config_appsettings.htm?dl=hid-6)

Oh yes, you're absolutely right. Email address visible as username could be a great security issue. I've changed it.

Mario, don't get me wrong, I don't want to denigrate your excellent work, you're doing a great job. I didn't realise that I could adjust these settings individually. Thanks for pointing that out, I'm totally fine with it now. Have a nice Sunday, best regards HG.

If a user searches the help system for "icon" or "size", the first hit is

Configuration - Application Settings (Configuring icon sizes for ribbons, menus and tree controls) (https://www.photools.com/help/imatch/rmh_config_appsettings.htm)

There is also the Adjusting IMatch for High-resolution Displays (https://www.photools.com/help/imatch/rmh_app_dpi.htm?dl=hid-1) help topic, which explains about icon sizes, ribbon size, menu size, tree icon size, text scaling, font settings etc.

IMatch is very adaptable.

Hello Mario,
I'm very happy with the new designed Icons. Congratulation!!!

I missed them between the end of "experimental features" and start of IMATCH 2025.
This was the only reason, why I migrated so early to the new release. Normally I am waiting much longer.
