Title: [BBD] Quick filter ribbon
Post by: Mees Dekker on February 13, 2025, 05:35:23 PM
When in the file window I enter in the search bar a certain word to be found in file names. This works as expected: 2 files (out of 52) are shown.

To invert the result I choose from the Search option (drop-down) menu : Invert result. Works also as expected: now 50 (out of 52) files are shown.

However: if I apply the funnel icon (most left hand sided icon)  in the quickfilter ribbon: all files disappear and no files at all are shown. I would expect the icon to work the same way as the the dorp-down menu item.

I may be missing something here (could not a solution in the Help either) or is this a bug?

The Quick Filter works with the files in the File Window.

It is "neutral" when nothing is selected (showing all files).
When you click the funnel icon, you invert the Quick Filter, hiding everything that does not match the filter. And if you did not enable anything in the Quick Filter, you will hide all files because no file can match.

The problem is that I selected 2 files (so it was not neutral) and than clicked the funnel icon.

So my observation/question remains valid: why does the "invert result" work as expected. But clicking the funnel icon does not work as expected: it hides all files, even when there are 2 files selected.

The Quick Filter works with the icons on the Quick Filter ribbon. There's no reason to use the Quick Filter at all unless you're going to filter using at least one icon. It applies a second layer of filtering to whatever you specified in the Search bar. If you enable the Quick Filter and you don't select any icons, the filter shows you everything because they're all matches. If you invert the Quick Filter, it shows you nothing because there are no matches.
