Title: External XMP files
Post by: Aubrey on January 06, 2014, 11:55:37 AM
I have always modified the XMP and rewritten to NEF raw files.
When bringing into IMatch files all my files have now got a buddy XMF file.
I don't want these!
1. Can I simply delete all XMP files and then reload the database to use embedded XMP files?
2. Will I lose all the xmp information from the files, i.e., when the buddy file was generated was the xmp information removed from original image?

Thanks,
Aubrey.

Storing XMP inside NEF files is non-standard. IMatch by default follows the recommendations of the Metadata Working Group and the XMP standard. RAW like NEF files store XMP data in sidecar files. You can change that under Edit > Preferences > Metadata 2, and also control creation of XMP sidecar files. See the corresponding help topic (<F1> while in the dialog) for all the info. Too much to repeat here.

Mario,
More than sufficient information for my issue.
I know that storing in NEF is non-standard. I did not have any problems with 3.6, so will continue to use the same wrokflow.

Many thanks for the fast response.
Aubrey.
