Title: I don't know what you did
Post by: seth on March 27, 2014, 11:29:42 PM
The initializing screen doesn't stay up long at all now!  Incredibly faster.

At first, I thought it was just cached from having it open before the update.  SO, I rebooted and opened again.  Yes, I can see a speed increase over two versions ago.  Congrats!

The db diagnosis seems to be moving a touch faster also.

Thank you.

Startup time depends to about 90% on disk performance. Loading the database pumps a lot of data from the database into memory. Also initializing the Media & Folders View takes up a lot of time because IMatch has to prompt the operating system for the state of each folder (on-line / off-line) and until Windows has this data cached, this can quite long. Especially if you work with network-based folders, NAS boxes and the like. Disk fragmentation also can cause slower performance.  Or a database which has not been optimized for weeks.
