Title: Use keyboard to switch focus in viewer mode
Post by: axel.hennig on July 06, 2014, 10:56:47 AM
Hello,

when beeing in the viewer-mode (send images to the viewer) and the categories panel is displayed, is it possible to switch (with the keyboard (!)) betweeen "focus on the image" and "focus on the categories panel"? When assigning images in the viewer mode, I always have to use the mouse to switch the focus to do the following: focus on image (mouse) -> next image (keyboard/mouse) -> focus on categories panel (mouse) -> assign categories (keyboard/mouse) -> and so on... I only want to use the keyboard.

I too find this a nuisance. I did find though that I can advance to the next image with the scroll wheel even if the focus
is in another panel. That helps somewhat if you only want to use the mouse.

A too would like to get a hotkey (preferably CTRL-TAB- as this is a Windows standard) to switch focus between the file window and the active panel. Without that hotkey, it's not possible to work with keyboard only when categorizing images.

As far as I understand in IMatch 3.6 {F6} switched the focus from the file window to the list of folders (or categories) and back again. This hotkey is gone (https://www.photools.com/community/index.php?topic=2408.0).

Would it be possible to get such a hotkey back?

Maybe a better approach would be to have NextImage and PrevImage keys which work inside
the viewer no matter what panel has the focus.
Since the need to switch focus is only to be able to advance to another image this would save one/two keystrokes.

Ctrl+Tab works for a long time...notice the yellow frame that shortly blinks to indicate the panel with the focus.
