Title: MetaData write back
Post by: P.Jones on July 15, 2014, 10:39:27 AM
I was adding some Labels and Ratings to some of my images. Some of the images were read only, the ones I accidently worked on.

These images now show the yellow pencil even though I've removed the Labels and Ratings I accidently added.

Is there an option for 'Pending MetaData write back', the yellow pencil on images, to be 'Marked as written'.

Be cautious:

Database Menu > Database Tools > Clear Processing Queues

The command works on the whole database, not specific files. It will clear all pending writebacks, so make sure you've written back everything that you want written outside of those you want to clear the metadata write-back for.

Cheers Erik worked a treat.

1. If you accidentally change rating or label, use Edit > Undo right afterwards.
2. You can reset the pending state of a file by re-importing the Metadata: Select the file(s). Press <Ctrl>+<Shift>+<F5> and choose Reload Metadata.

I have the yellow pencil on a large number of files although I didn't change anything on them. I only imported the files, then the categories and assignments from IM3. All these files show that XMP::Lightroom\HierarchicalSubject should be written. I don't even use that field. Nor have these files been touched by Lightroom (or iMatch, except from importing them).
I can of course clear these pending writes, but where could they come from?

Ok. I think the answer to my question is in this post: https://www.photools.com/community/index.php?topic=2863.0 (https://www.photools.com/community/index.php?topic=2863.0)
There are keywords in those files. God knows how they got there, probably when I played around and tested things. I definetely don't use keywords. So now I have to cleanup all those files to get rid of the keywords ...

If you re-import the files (Select, <Shift>+<Ctrl>+<F5>, Import Metadata) IMatch will reset the pending state, unless the files have IPTC and/or XMP keywords which are imported into hierarchical keywords again.
