Title: Prevent user to change some settings by accident
Post by: Frank on July 22, 2013, 06:53:53 PM
When I just looking and searching/scolling for a picture and select the stars of the rating by accident the system will just do what I selected even if I just did it by accident. Therefore a button to look and unlook all properties would be helpful.

Hi Frank,

what about Database -> Open Database read-only? This should prevent all modifications to the database contents, including ratings, flags etc.

Hi,
I know that I can undo some stuff, but it would not help me if I do not know that I have modified something. What would help is to load the database all the time in readonly mode and if I am going to edit I just unlock the database for modification.

Can I do something via a script? I'm thinking of put a writeprotection on the database file and remove it later on.

One Reason for that enhancement is: My children and my wife are just looking within Imatch for pictures and exporting some stuff for books, school, ... . I'm not shure if they pres the wrong button.

regards
Frank

Give the users under which your wife and children log on only read file system privileges to the folder containing the IMatch 5 database. IMatch then opens the database in read-only mode automatically.
