I've been happily using IMatch 5 for a long time on my own PC. Now I want to begin to introduce my wife to using it, so I downloaded and installed the trial version on her PC. Both PCs are on my home network, and are both in the same Win 7 "homegroup," and I can see both PCs in the extended map of the network; and the folder where my original database is stored on my PC is fully shared with her, and full permissions for read and write are enabled. Yet -- when I try (from HER computer) to open the existing database on MY computer, it only will open in READ-ONLY mode. I know that should happen if the trial version is more than 30 days old, but in the meantime, why can she not gain full read/write access to "my" IMatch database? What am I missing? I'd appreciate any hints or suggestions . . . Thanks!
The trial version opens all databases older than 30 days in read-only mode only. Even if the trial version is only installed for day. Otherwise users would un-install and re-install the trial version once a month to avoid paying for IMatch :)
Thanks, Mario! That clears that up. I'll just teach my wife how to use the basics of IMatch 5 with the trial database on her OWN system (where it seems to work just fine with a new database created there). ;)
Exactly.
You create a new database with the trial version and it will by fully writable for 30 days. This is usually sufficient for a new user to decide whether or not to buy IMatch.
