Title: Turn off metadata in a videos only database?
Post by: Imageman on July 16, 2015, 06:42:09 PM
I have a data base of video files only, and will never need Metadata. Is there a way to turn the Metadata function off in this case so IMatch won't spend time reading it and using resources?  -  Thanks for your help, Bob

Reading metadata from files is usually very fast, even from video files.
How long does IMatch need to read the data (log file?)
What sometimes requires a rather long time is to produce a thumbnail for video files, but that depends on the format, which codecs are installed etc. Again, the log file would tell us how long it takes.

If the thumbnail extraction / checksum generation / cache generation takes long, you can tell IMatch to skip files above a certain size under Edit > Preferences > Cache. See the help for details on these options.
