Title: Slide Show Feature
Post by: jelvers on January 14, 2017, 12:47:20 PM
Although IMWV delivers phantastically on all my expectations, I wonder whether a separate slide show feature could be included in one of the future IMA versions as well. I refer to an earlier comment, made my Mario in the IMatch discussion board, where the use of Java Scripting (instaed of Basic) could make that possible.

Which features/options would you like to see in a browser-based slide show?

I would really second jelvers feature request.
I have 2 main usage scenarios in mind:
1. Showing photos to friends/family via TV as jelvers mentioned
2. Having a permanent diashow / slideshow on an android tablet that is located in our living room.

For 1., the existing viewer might be okay since we can do a selection and then go through the images via arrow keys.
For 2., I would like at least a configurable slide time as we have in imatch. Transition time, transition effects are not that important. Configurable text would be nice, but not necessary for the beginning.

+1 on the configurable slideshow to have a cheap android tablet as a wireless photoframe... was thinking of getting one of these but this would be much better!

Key features of IMatch slide show such as slide time,  text option, transition time/effect (although not really priority)
Would be great to introduce a custom sort option as well

hey,
this is 2nd thing which I am missing on the webviewer :)

I do have also a smart house, with some smart TVs,
where I visitors-slide-show would be really great.

And Mario could bundle this with an auto-login (MAC, IP?),
there would even no need for a pedestrian login on a TV :)

Let the feature requests flow freely.
Once IMatch 2017 is out, I will start another round of enhancements for IMatch Anywhere and IMatch WebViewer.

Would be great if the tablet based browsers would offer a Chromecast function. Than I would be really happy.  :)

I would support the chromcast function as well. I am just using a German cloud service that provides the chromcast feature for the pics stored in the cloud. Very handy.

Best........

Isn't that built into the browser? If you use the Chrome browser you can cast what you see to any Chromecast device...

for what, exactly? Chromecast? One or more of the slide show features requested here?
Problem is, if people start to mix their ideas into unrelated feature requests, nobody can keep track anymore. At least I don't.

Support for ChromeCast is nothing I need (or can) built into IMatch WebViewer. That's build into your (Chrome) browser.

I'll qualify my "+1" with Jelvers observation; this is what I'd like to see implemented as a slide-show in IMatch Anyhwhere:

Key features of IMatch slide show such as slide time,  text option, transition time/effect (although not really priority)
Would be great to introduce a custom sort option as well

Sorry, my bad. I hijacked this tread with my talk about Chromecast.

As I mainly use IMWV on an Android tablet (in front of TV) it would be cool to use Chromecast. As Mario said, Chromecast is in the browser and there is nothing he can do in IMWV. Problem is, all the browsers on an Android tablet don't offer Chromecast. I have a ton of apps on the tablet who do Chromecast, but unfortunately no browsers.

Still +1 for slideshow features.

Android is made by Google. Chromecast is made by Google. The Chrome Browser is made by Google. I wonder...

@hro: Why don't you use Google Home then? It provides the streaming feature for chromecast. Although I have to admit that the resulting pic-quality on the TV is not really excellent. But this has nothing to with IMWC, as it is perfect on the tablet. By the way: I have connected (via HDMI) a little minix computer to my TV, which runs on Android OS, and and there I use IMWV via the build in Chrome browser. Works like a dream even speed wise!

Thanks Juergen for your ideas. I didn't think about Google Home, will try this as well as connecting a Linux box which I have in my network. Just looking for the most convenience with the least amount of gear  :) :)
Yes, IMWV runs perfectly on my Android tablet, and there is nothing Mario needs to do.

According to the newsletter about IMatch 2018, I would like to refresh the topic, I'm interested in a slide show feature.
Btw. I cannot find forum(https://www.photools.com/community/index.php?board=111.0) mentioned in the newsletter.
Thank you.

I am also still interested in the slide show feature.

A slide show feature has been implemented for IMatch Anywhere WebViewer 2018™.
Nothing too fancy, just an automatic advance of slides, with a pause time configurable via the user options.
This ensures that the slider still works on all devices, from smart phones to TVs with older browsers.

That's great! I will test it when IMatch Anywhere 2018 is out.

It should so its job.

For a slide show with "fancy" animations, fades and suchlike I would have to replace the tried-and-true PhotoSlider component - which is the only component I could find that really works cross-platform and equally well on older mobile browsers and the often quirky browsers available on "Smart TVs".

Swapping this or adding an extra slide show component just for that purpose would be another project for some later edition.
