Title: Shutter speed not displaying correctly with Custom Template
Post by: loweskid on May 01, 2017, 04:05:26 AM
I'm trying to display the shutter speed and aperture in the footer 1 of the thumbnails, in the format '1/250 at F5.6', using a Custom Template as described in the Help File under the subject 'The File Window'.

At the moment I've got the shutter speed attribute set at Footer 1 left and this is displaying correctly (please see attached screenshot).

In Footer 1 right I have the custom template -

{File.MD.Composite\ShutterSpeed\ShutterSpeed\0} at F {File.MD.Composite\Aperture\Aperture\0}

which is a straight copy from the help file.  The aperture is displayed correctly but the shutter speed at right is showing as a decimal, just either 0.00 or 0.01.

What have I missed?

Add the value:formatted to tell IMatch that you don't want the default numeric value of the variable but the formatted text value:

{File.MD.Composite\ShutterSpeed\ShutterSpeed\0|value:formatted}

For metadata tags declared as numerical by ExifTool, variables return the numeric value by default.

Again, IMatch shows how flexible and configurable it is...    (https://www.photools.com/community/Smileys/photools/rolleye12.gif)

That's done it..!  Thanks for your usual rapid reply.

I read the help file chapter on Variables but somehow missed that - I read it again this morning and it's all in there.

Thanks Sinus - not my design but a couple of icons I downloaded from a freebie icon site.  They tell me I have nothing in the Description or Keyword fields - as described by Mario in one of his Knowledgebase articles.  I don't normally touch the raw files but a very useful indicator for the jpegs I send to a photo agency.

Indeed....!
