Hello Mario
I have read some threads and your help about this.
But anyway, I do not want something wrong, hence my question, sorry to be that anxious: :-[
1) I can buy IMatch2017 and install it (beside my IMatch 5.8.4
2) Then I can copy my big, real DB and give it another name
3) Then I open this copied DB with IM2017, IMatch will convert it
4) IMatch does set the cache correctly
5) I can try out IM2017 with my copied DB
6) I can work with IM 5 and my "old" DB, new images I will add here
On this way I can test out IM2017.
But working with new images I can work with my real DB and IMatch 5.
I think, this scenario must be correct?
Quote4) IMatch does set the cache correctly
IMatch 2017 uses the same cache folder as IMatch 5. If you don't want this, you can duplicate the cache folder (e,g, to ...\imatch6\previewcache) and then configure the different location in IMatch 2017 under Edit > Preferences > Cache. Wastes a lot of disk space, though.
Quote5) I can try out IM2017 with my copied DB
Yes. If your database is older than 30 days (likely) only in read-only mode.
6) Yes.

Yes. If you are unsure, just install IMatch 2017 on another PC.

Thanks.
Sorry, but if I buy IMatch (what I will do now), I can work with my copied DB also normal, not only read-only.
Hm, of course, must be possible.
Yes. The licensed version of IMatch can open all databases in writable mode.
