All categories of all selected files show in the File Categories panel, or in the Category Dashboard app, too. Would it be possible to highlight those cat's to which the focused file is assigned? Perhaps bolded or by a different color?
Not sure if this should be a feature request, or if it could be solved by a tweak to the Dashboard app, or better still, the File Cat's panel? Perhaps there is a way already, but I could not find it.

You see the categories assigned to the focused file when this is the only selected file.
You see the categories (off, on, partial) of all selected files when you select more than one file.
I'm not sure if adding an additional attribute in the case of multi-selection will be useful for more than a handful of users.
Open a feature request and we'll see how many users see a need for this.
