Title: Auto advance
Post by: Gerhard on November 15, 2017, 04:58:49 AM
I would like an option similar to lightroom, where the next picture is automatically selected (imtach hotkey space) after changing information like rating, label, flag, rejected ...

I do not understand fully.

I don't understand.
You want IMatch to automatically advance which images, where and when?

When I change the rating of a file in the file window I definitely don't want iMatch to jump to the next file.

ok an example,
I select a folder in the left tree with 500 pictures.
Then I select the first image and press 3 for a 3 star rating, then, with this option enabled, IMatch would automatically jump to the next picture ( like pressing space).
In this way i can keep going to rate or label pictures 1 by 1 without pressing space in between every image.

I do understand that this feature does not want everyone, thats why I asked for an option to enable and disable this behavior.

In the last two weeks I labeled/rejected 20000 pictures in lightroom. Not pressing an additional key to advance to the next image makes a difference.

I always keep a finger on the <Cursor Right> and this means I can quickly navigate with the right hand while setting ratings/labels with the left hand. Even hundreds of files, no problem.

I can highly recommend a programmable keypad such as the one I use - http://cherryamericas.com/product/g84-4700-programmable-keypad/ (http://cherryamericas.com/product/g84-4700-programmable-keypad/)

You could program each of the keys 1 to 5 with the appropriate numbers followed by the right cursor key and it will do exactly what you want.

Very easy to program, just select the key sequence from a diagram on the screen.  The programming is saved to a file so you can have as many different setups as you want.  I bought it mainly for the Photoshop shortcuts but I have different setups for iMatch, Notepad++ and a couple of other programs.

Auto-hotkey can be used for this purpose as well... though you would need to find keys that aren't already mapped.. pretty sure the F keys might work too.  Enjoy!

I have implemented this feature for the next release.
IMatch now supports auto advance in the file window and also in the Viewer (in addition to the auto advance triggered by marking a file for deletion).
