Title: IMatch 2018 Sneak Peak: Show/Hide stacked files
Post by: Mario on March 20, 2018, 02:57:04 PM
The file window toolbar now has a new option. When enabled, all files normally hidden by a collapsed stack (version or regular) are shown. Disabling the option hides the file again.
This does not change the collapsed state of the stacks themselves. You can now just show/hide the stacked files whenever you want, without manually expanding stacks.

Question: When I un-hide and then press Ctrl-A to select all, does it then select all images, including the stacked ones? Until jow, I had to expand stacks before selecting all (as there is still no option like Shift-Ctrl-A to select all files including the hidden ones in stacks).

If you hide files in a stack, IMatch does not load these files into the file window, and hence you have to expand the stack to bring these files into the scope before you can select them.
The idea of stacks is to hide files from view and to conserve resources because IMatch does not bother loading files hidden by a collapsed stack.

Ctrl+A selects all files in the file window. Files hidden by stacks are not loaded and hence cannot be selected unless you expand the stack first.

The new option makes all files normally hidden by a collapsed stack visible. This means they are loaded into the file window and pressing Ctrl+A will select them too.

This alone is worth the upgrade fee.
I hadn't realized that I needed it until I read about it!

I don't want to wish my life away, but.... roll on June/July (or whenever 2018 is ready for release)

This is an idea I back-ported from IMatch Anywhere WebViewer into IMatch  ;)

I agree, that this is very worthful, this enhancement.
Because I work a lot with stacks, something like this I wished often.

Hm, one question to clarify:

I have 10 stacks.
One is expanded, all other are collapsed.

If I use not this new command "show" I think, all 10 stacks are now expanded and visible.
Now if I "close" this command again with "Hide", is the state again like before, one stack expanded, all other collapsed?

Because you write, the state of the stack will not be altered, I think, that the view is then again exactly the same like before "show/hide".
