Title: Google/other maps

It looks like Friedemann Schmidt has run into the issues with Google Maps API that Mario faced (and has resolved far as my use is concerned, solved): http://www.geosetter.de/mantis/view.php?id=1970

But I don't see how he has resolved it in the thread you have linked to ... (https://www.photools.com/community/Smileys/photools/confused06.gif)

I did forsee that and hence require users to get their own key and to pay for their own usage. The only alternative would be a subscription model or credit model, as we discussed in the other thread.

Ah, right. Need ... more ... coffee  ;)

As you can see, Google Maps can become really expensive really quickly if one has to pay for all. Which is why I cannot.
If users get their own API key they usually stay well within the free quota. Or even if they use Google Maps very often they pay a few dollars per month.
