Dear Mario,
I experimented a little bit with IM5 and saw, that I can use it also for Word, Excel and Powerpoint-documents, like a DMS (Document Management System).
For this I build an own database.
To use this I set in the Preferences "Autoload" to no, so I can choose the correct database, but now I miss a listing of my used databases like "Recently Used".
Because only the content of the directory from the last used database is shown.
Do you think, it is possible to make a selection "Recently used", where the last 3 or 5 databases used are listed?
Regards
Gerd
The Database menu shows the last 10 used databases. Is this not the case for your installation?
Hi Mario,
you mean that one, which opens if I click on the little menu-item "Database"? But here I see only the same name? Which is what? and where is it located?
I mean that one, which opens if I click on the big "Open Database".
For test-reasons only I created two IM5-databases with different names in the same direcctory. Is that allowed and works?
As you can see in the 3rd screenshot, only the 2nd database is listed with the path, the others not.
Would ne nice, to have also under "Open Database" a list, where I can see this last used databases and may be in a list, where in the first column is the name, in the second column the path and (as new possibility) in the third colunm an info, that you can add durcing database creation ...
Regards
Gerd

ot: I use IM since a long time also for all my Word-Doc, InDesign-stuff, Excel and so on. It works great. If you have a clever naming - system for example, you can also search very quickly such documents.
Hi Sinus,
yes, that's one thing. The other side is to make links via categories between customers, type of document, responsibilities and status ... ;D
There I see a lot of possibilities ...

The MRU list (most recently used) list of databases is automatically generated by the Microsoft Framework I use. They only display the file name. If you name all your databases alike, this may be a problem. I suggest you just name your two databases differently.
Hi Marion,
what about several databases in the same directory?
Regards
Gerd
You cannot have multiple files with the same name in the same directory.
Hi Mario,,
that's clear .....
again: does IM5 work correct, if I create several IM5-databases (with different names!) in the same directory?

Gerd
Hi Gerd,
I only have three databases but having them in the same directory with different names works just fine for me.

Hi all,
thanks for the answers! :-)
Next questions: can I rename an existing database and can I move an existing database to another directory?
Regards
Gerd
Yes, provided it's not open at the time you rename or move.
