Title: Not getting GPS data shown in IMatch from my Canon 5D IV
Post by: lightchaser on March 18, 2019, 10:13:39 AM
Since I've got a Canon 5DIV I've the possibility to work with GPS data. Now I'm wondering how to get the GPS-Data shown in Imatch. I can easily see these data in LR CC but don't know how to get that data shown in IMatch. I just see a blank field? Missing any important step? I always develope my images in LR and then export them als 16 bit TIFF and then import these files into IMatch. Thank you for your help in advance. Franz

IMatch automatically detects GPS data contained in the GPS record in your image.
If IMatch does not show lat/lng in the Metadata Panel and no globe icon in the File Window, no GPS data is contained in the image.

I had never a support case where Lr showed GPS data but ExifTool was unable to find it.

Show us the output of the ExifTool Command Processor for one of your files. Use the "List Metadata" preset.
Save the results to a text file and attach.

Send a sample image to support email address (https://www.photools.com/support/). PLEASE include a link to this topic in your email. I handle about 300 emails per week.

Thank you, Mario, for your help. Used the Exif Tool Command Processor and found no GPS data. Then I looked into my LR CC export preset and found that I had exported the files without GPS information. Problem solved!

Another interesting case for the support database and the community search engine.

The Metadata Analyst in IMatch 2020 will make such cases easier. It will show immediately that the file has no GPS data, without the user having the manually run the ECP.
