Title: Face Detection (from picasa) to keyword
Post by: javiavid on November 21, 2019, 12:39:24 PM
Hi, How can I copy the person's name to a keyword?

I currently have in imatch:
person|Javier; person|Pedro

And I'd like to have:
person|Javier; Javier; person|Pedro; Pedro

I need it because another program doesn't read XMP face tags, but it does read file tags.
This process used to be done automatically from Lightroom, but my idea is to use only Picasa and imatch.

Thank you

I'm not exactly sure what you want to do.
Do you actually want to duplicate the leaf level of your hierarchical keywords into a separate keyword?
This basically duplicates all keywords and may have side-effects, depending on how you have configured your database and options.

Which keyword tag does to the other application use?
The flat XMP keywords? IPTC keywords? Hierarchical XMP keywords?
Which flattening settings for keywords do you use in IMatch? Edit > Preferences > Metadata?

Does IMatch write "person|Pedro" into the flat keyword? Or maybe only the leaf keyword "Pedro"? Or maybe two keywords: "person" and "Pedro"?

Select the file and look at the keywords in the Metadata Panel using the "Browser" mode. This shows the flat keywords (search for subject to find them).

Alternatively, write back a file and then open it in the ExifTool Command Processor (Tools menu in IMatch).
Use the "List Keywords" preset to see all keywords in your file.

Note: IMatch can import XMP face region keywords automatically into your database.
By default it organizes them under the "person" keyword, to make clear that these keywords belong to a person. And to not pollute the keyword hierarchy with dozens or hundreds of keywords all on the top level. By the looks of it you are using this.

You can configure this different if you like. See Configuring Face Tags (https://www.photools.com/help/imatch/#anno_basics.htm?dl=h-34)
If you import XMP face region tags into keywords directly on the top level, IMatch will add "Pedro" and not "person|Pedro". But that can quickly mess up your keyword hierarchy, with too many keywords right on the top-level...

The problem was that it was missing for using write-back metadata.
When using it imatch writes the tags I need.

Thank you Mario

Is there a target date for imatch 2020? I've seen the screenshots you uploaded and I'm looking forward to it.

No. I never give dates. IMatch 2020 will be released when the testers and I consider it good and ready.

This was just a suggestion of what could be done with File Window apps in the future.
This may not be necessarily be something that is shipped with IMatch 2020. You can do most of that is shown there with IMatch already - using File Window Layouts (https://www.photools.com/help/imatch/#fw_basics.htm?dl=h-42)
