Title: Delete all relations?
Post by: frlindla on February 22, 2020, 12:25:01 AM
If there seems to be a lot of problems with my relations (master-version). Could it be an idea to delete all relations and start from scratch? And how can I do that?

Delete/Disable all your file version rules and then run F4,R on the folder in the Media & Folders View (or use Command > Relations < Refresh Relations).
This also works on multiple selected folders. Recursively.

Mario, as you said, it seems like some masters connect to the wrong version. But perhaps the reason for me is too simple filenames?

Could this work:

1. Disable all my file relations (shall I choose all folders or one? I have one folder for each year and one for each month)
2. Create better filenames that prevent master to pick up the wrong versions
3. Make my relations active again and refresh the relations

Just make sure that your file relation rules always can detect the correct versions and masters.
If this means you have to change the file names, just do it.

I always go for simple.
Versions in a sub-folder of the folder containing the master.
No issues with the version file names, even if they are the same as the master.
Simple scoping of the version rule (just check the sub-folder). Fast. Precise.
Sometimes users shot into their own foot to make things too complicated.
