Title: Trying trial version causes licensed version to no longer work

I have been using I-Match for years. I really like the tool.

I've kept to version 5.8.4 because I haven't found any reason to upgrade.

Recently, however, I thought I would try the new version (mainly to see if it has significant speed improvements), and installed the trial.

I wasn't able to do much testing, and the trial expired. I removed the trial.

But, now my licensed 5.8.4 version no longer works. It hangs during "Initializing user interface..."

I've tried restoring from backup. I've tried removing and reinstalling. I've even removed the software, gone through the registry and removed all references to "photools," then reinstalled.

Nothing has helped.

This is with my existing database or attempting to create a new database.

Any suggestions on what to try?

IMatch 5 is several years out of date.

I don't even have references anymore on the database versions and components versions used in that version.
IMatch uses over a dozen components from 3rd party vendors and most of these can be installed only once one a computer. Running multiple versions of IMatch at the same time is thus impossible (and not needed anyway).

When you install a newer version it upgrades the database and all settings to the current version.
What exactly did you backup and restore? Did you remember to restore anything in C:\ProgramData\photools.com\IMatch5 ? This includes settings, presets etc.
Check the IMatch log file log file (https://www.photools.com/help/imatch/#im_logfile.htm) for additional warnings and error messages.

Official support for the legacy IMatch 5 version is no longer available.

No, I didn't remeber ProgramData. That was it. Thanks.

I hope you plan to upgrade to IMatch 2020 soon.
Much has been improved since the old IMatch 5 days...

If you need any of the items that Mario's listed in the IMatch updates, you won't regret updating. On the other hand, if you don't, ...
