General / Viewer: Rejecting image remove...
Last post by Jingo - April 07, 2025, 02:28:57 PM
Hi Mario - just opening this ticket to report an issue with how the viewer is working.  This was working correctly in 2025.1.12 and perhaps changed with 2025.2.2 (or 1.14).

The Issue:
  • Select 20 images in the File Manager
  • Open them in the viewer
  • Select all for compare with 16-up as default (16 load up in the compare window)
  • Hit reject on the first image
The issue appears: the rejected image disappears from the block of 16, the screen "reloads", all additional images shift  forward, and the zoom within the image location is reset to its default spot (not the spot it was set to before).

What Should Occur:
The rejected image should remain on the screen but low-lit (to indicate reject), the cursor should move to the next image, the zoom within the image should remain fixed (so I can compare the close up across remaining images).

My Feature Request (Viewer Request) would also then allow the viewer to....:
Once the last image is either rejected or moved past (before cursor jumps back to the first image), the next group of 16 images should be loaded (if there are enough to fill the 16 boxes) or it should load the next x images remaining.

Once all images have been displayed at least once, then the viewer should start at the first image (if the option to cycle is set), and the next 16 NON-REJECTED images should be displayed again for another round of comparison.

With this bug request resolved and the feature request in place, I could select 60 images, cull through them (rejecting/skipping) to narrow down the list to a small number all without having to leave and re-enter the viewer and while keeping the zoom fixed and waiting for screen reloading, etc.

Thx - Andy.

QuoteI use Ollama, I tried LM studio but it was even worse.
This indicates some issue with your computer or the installed graphic card drivers / CUDA drivers.
If both GPU-intensive software produces cause problems, it's not IMatch.

I run both Ollama and LM Studio on a 4070TI myself, every day. I've processed over 5,000 images over the weekend, without any problems. Using the Gemma 3 12B model. Which is way better than LLaVA or LLama Vision.

One user reported constant crashes with a specific NVIDIA driver version. Installing an older version solved the problem.

Note that both Ollama and LM Studio are updated once a week or more often. Make sure you install all available updates.
They often contain fixes for specific graphic cards / driver versions.

Will do. I use an RTX 4070ti super with 16GB VRAM. An i9 14900k and 64 gigs of RAM. I use Ollama, I tried LM studio but it was even worse. Ollama still works alright, but only with llAVA 7b and not nearly as well as it did before the update. Ill get some log files uploaded.

Include a log file in debug logging mode (log file) to provide a minimum of information to work with.

Which type of hardware? Graphic card? VRAM?
Which AI runner do you use? Ollama or LM Studio?
Also ZIP and attach the log files of Ollama / LM Studio.

Look at my Gemma 3 keywording tip example here: https://www.photools.com/community/index.php/topic,15045.0.html

You could use something like:

Quote1. Create keywords describing the poses of the persons in this image in the following format: "pose|[your pose description]".
The "pose|" is a fixed part of each keyword.

In a quick test, this produces quite good hierarchical keywords for the poses:

Before the last update to Version 2025.2.4, Autotagger has had several issues. LLava 7 still works the best, but even it is now doing the same thing. Autotagger just sops working, and how many it will do seems totally random. If I cue up, say 100 files to annalyze and tag, it mwy do anywhere from 5 to 75 or whatever, but eventually it will stick on one and not move from there.

Also, this is with LLava 7b. If I use any other, including LLava 13, it will only do 3 or 4 befoore it stops. Gemma is particullary bad. It will only do 1 to 2 files at  a time and thats it. It will stop working after that and i have to clear the cue and try again.

Another note, when using the best one, LLava 7, it only works better if I dont touch it. I cant scroll and see what its filling out. I cant switch to another page and work on other photos and I cant switch to another app and and do something else on the pc  while its working. If I dont touch it, it will do a couple hundred or so before it chkes up and stops. If i touch it, it will basically stop immediatley and noot work again until I clear cue and run it again.

Before the update, LLava 7 would run an entire cue without ever stopping. I switched to a studio driver but it made no difference.

Is it just me or does anybody else have this problem?

I set up the 12B Version on my local server and while it is slow (as expected given my hardware) it seems to work, processing about 2-3 Images per Minute running all three Prompts i currently ask for.

I'll give your suggestions a try, maybe i can get it to output something i can translate into keywords.

The more i think about it, the more it seems like i should change my tagging system tho...
Right now i use a lot of very detailed Tags. Often times one could express 95% of the same information in just two or three sentences...
Exporting those Information remains a problem tho, since almost everything still relies in text search, which does work a lot better with keywords.
I might need to have another look at Imatch anywhere :)

This option is a time (and money) saver.

If you have several shots of basically the same motive, select them all, make the "most relevant" image the focused image and run AutoTagger with this option enabled. All selected images get the same description, keywords, headline or other traits.

You can apply this setting dynamically using either

<Alt>+<F7> => run AutoTagger with the last settings on all selected files
<Shift>+<Alt>+<F7> => run AutoTagger with the last settings on all selected files with Run Once enabled.

If you have a mixed batch of images, some series of the same motive and more individual motives, using these keyboard shortcuts allows you to quickly enqueue the images with or without Run Once as needed.

Ah,

i may should have mouse over-ed that setting before enabling it...

Not sure why but i thought it would do something different :)

I queued a new batch and it seems to process multiple images now.
