Leica Maker Note value

There is a Leica Maker Note tag which is becoming very interesting for the Leica owners: it contains (when present) the "Leica Look" setting of the picture (Standard, Vivid, Monochrome, Monochrome High Contrast and so on). The tag (a string) is contained (according to Exiftool tags list) in the Panasonic Leica5 Tags, Tag Name FilmMode, ID 0x0412. Using ExiftoolGui the value is correctly shown.

Now the question is: is it possible, in some way, to show this value among the others in the Metadata panel? (and if yes, how?)

Many thanks in advance for any help... :)

Sure.

1. Check if ExifTool has provided and IMatch has imported the tag.
Select an image from your Leica and switch the Metadata Panel to the "Browser" layout. This shows you all the tags IMatch has imported for your file. Use the search function to search for the tag name, e.g. for look. Or for Leica.

2. If the tag is not listed, check in the Tag Manager if it is enabled for automatic import. Most proprietary maker notes are not useful for humans and IMatch does not import them to avoid flooding the database with trash data that is never needed.

Search for Tag Groups containing the name Leica in the list on the left. Then enable the additional tags you want to import. Follow the instructions on screen. You need to re-import the metadata after enabling the tag to bring it into the database.

When the tag is in the database, you can add it to the Default or a custom Metadata Panel layout (Metadata Panel Layouts), you can display it in File Windows via the corresponding variable, you can create a data-driven category  to automatically group your files based on the setting used etc. Have fun.
