I would like to see a property and filter tab similar to what we have for the category window in the people window.

The property tab should display the same fields as the person editor and display the values of the selected person. Just like in the category tab, this fields could be edited right there. When multiple persons are selected, the fields for group, gender and sort field could be selectable to bulk edit.
The filer tab should contain the search field and a button for each group so you can select the groups you want to have displayed.

Does the already integrated search not work for you?
It searches tag, name and group. This should work very well for most cases.
Which people properties do you need to search which are not already searched?

Why an extra tab? Double-clicking the person shows all data already.
There are also feature requests for allowing more properties to show in standard layouts, to show more columns etc.
Maybe you check these out?

Search works very well. Right now I just have to many people in the view and I think I will often want to limit the displays with groups. That's really the only use I see for groups right now. Would be nice to just click a button.

First of all it would always be open and accessible and display the data. It would also make it consistent with how the category tab works. Opening the person editor is sluggish in my opinion and I can't really see me going through 600 persons that way. And not to forget, being able to change the group for more than one person would be really great for me.

I think I wrote that one :>)
Yes, both FR address similar problems, how to manage a huge number of people in the people view. I thought you have rather separated FR's than one with too many things on.

It would be easier that way to update faces on the go. But I suppose the code nature is different (native vs chromium browser).

As more and more of IMatch is converted into JS.. more and more of the "old" items like categories, catalogs and the File Browser will start to function more like the currently People/Event "APPS"... and I am 100% for this because of the extensibility it offers folks like myself.  Right now - there is a bit of a disconnect between how the "old"/core functions look and work and the "new" / enhancements written in JS/JQ/Vue.
