Image showing in "Unknown Persons" but Imatch has correct face?

I have several images that are showing under the People View as "Unknown Persons" yet IMATCH did recognize the correct person and assigned the correct name to the face (see attachments).  I'm trying to understand why these images are showing up under "Unknown Persons" and how I can get them to show up under the persons name.

Thanks!!!

Maybe a another person in the image?
Database diagnosis does not report warnings or errors?

Mario:

No warnings or errors and he is the only one in the picture.  The image I attached is the original image. I just right clicked and had IMATCH rescan the face and it found the right face again and I clicked on the check mark while in image viewer and it has now moved to the persons folder.  Is there something I did that would have caused this?  Lastly, every time I hit ignore on a face in an image should it appear in  "unknown Persons"?  In order to have IMATCH have the picture show up under the recognized person I have been going to the "unknown Persons" view, deleting the "x" on the unknown person (when I have a known face in the image) and then it ends up showing up under the correct face.

Thanks!

I had a strange behavier, that might cause this. Somehow I get two identical sized face tags on one face (duplication). One with name (on top) and an other "unknown" one under. Maybe that is the problem here, too.

@kiwilink

Check the person in the Face Manager. Anything unusual? Many faces trained? Many faces rejected?
IMatch is pretty good at diagnosing problems in the database, including all things related to faces.
Do you use the most recent version of IMatch.

@mastodon

Do your files maybe contain faces in the XMP metadata, and IMatch imports them?
Sometimes images contain 'crappy' face records, written by smart phones or cameras.
You can check via the ExifTool Command Processor. Run the "List Metadata" preset and then search for region.

No, I have made this duplicated face tags with IMatch. It was very rare, mostly all face tags in a picture were duplicated. But they appeared only in the spring, nowdays I did not have newer ones.

I have seen this too. I think that happened with one of the earlier versions and I just didn't realize when exactly it happened. Usually it was most but not all images in a folder.
As I don't write back meta data immediately, I could recover easily just doing a force rescan of the metadata for the affected files in the folder.

Mario:

I always install the latest version as soon as it comes out.  Just to clarify, what is the best practice for these "unknown faces".  I know if I delete the square while in the viewer they no longer show up as "unknown faces".  So, instead of hitting "I" for Ignore when I'm in Face Manager should be doing something else so I don't have thousands of images under the "Unknown Faces"?

Mario

It would probably be useful to figure out where these duplicate faces come from. Or when they were created.
I have not experienced this, and this seems to be not a problem for the majority of users.

PS.: The Face Manager allows you to delete faces.

I'm unable to open the face manager for "unknown persons"

Mario

Yes. It can only open for known persons.
Only faces without a person assigned go into "unknown persons".
