Highlight related elements in open windows and panels.

The faster we recognize relationships, the better. Do we need that? No. Can it be helpful. Yes.
So this is not an expectation but a suggestion in case it doesn't take too much work.

Sample 1: If you select objects in the file window, there are folders or categories in the panels and tabs that are related to them (contain the selected elements) and that could be highlighted. That is not made visible at the moment.

Sample 2: The files of a selected folder in Folder & Media can be in different categories that are visible in the category panel etc. And vice versa, the files that belong to a selected category can be in different folders, etc.

The rough sketch is symbolic and not "correct". Various other tabs or panels may be open to the left and right of the file window.
Sometimes there are connections. The sketch simply shows what it would be like if selections would lead to emphasized elements. The bold font is just one way ...

You did not mention this, but I assume you request that the folder and category filter not only show which folders/categories you have enabled for filtering (and these are then the only files you see in the File Window) but also somehow, if not active, indicate the folder and categories of the currently selected files? The files in the current file window?

1. The category panel shows you this information. With check boxes in the tree, and in a more concise form in the "Current" tab.
2. You can use a simple value filter for the File Folder tag in the Filter Panel. The filter then lists the folders for all files in the current scope.

Feedback on the side vs targeted search / filtering

I'm just focusing on the feedback this time. I'm removing tools for targeted searches from the proposal because I need more specific experience with them.

Yes, that's helpful and one of the kind of quick feedback I meant.

Related suggestion: please think about a more ergonomic visualization.
One possibility: all checkboxes that are completely empty could visually fade into the background.
This would make it much easier for us to notice relevant categories.

Yes, that works, but is already part of a targeted search that I leave out of this proposal.
(Such things are quick and spontaneous if already set and left open in exactly this state)

I set up the proposal specifically for:
Media & Folders
Category Tab
Category Panel
Collections Tab
All of them related to the File Window

On the little map that I have attached you can see (pink) the type of connections that I mean
At the moment such connections aren't visible, or you have to explicitelly search for them.
It would be nice to have them as instant feedback when you just click objects.
It is not something we urgently need, but something that makes life easier.

I just attached a little visual comparison. Many other options are also possible, but just a small change like this makes it easier for us to identify informative checkboxes.
