Stop loading Data if we just want to open the properties of tree branches

Have I overlooked a keyboard shortcut that allows you to right-click a category in a tree and see its properties without loading data into the file window?
If not, this is a suggestion and it applies to all types of trees in panels and tabs that load a lot of data when clicked.

This is technically impossible. So many things and features depend on a specific category (or categories) being selected and that the File Window matches.
