I've been recently getting the message

"iMatch noticed problems running ExifTool to read or write metadata. ExifTool became unresponsive and iMatch had to stop and restart it. Typical reason..."

I have previously used iMatch without getting this message, but I now get it frequently. Is this adversely affecting my metadata or database? Can someone help me with what the problem is? My log file is attached.

Thank you for any help.

IMatch reports errors like

Write-back Cannot write to off-line/read-only file "G:\Scanned\...1984 0012.jpg"
Write-back Cannot write to off-line/read-only file " G:\Scanned\1993\...1993 019.jpg

and

PTWrapper hangs in ProcessRun for 120000 ms.

IMatch monitors all ExifTool instances it has started and when ExifTool performs no disk or CPU activity for 120 seconds, IMatch terminates the instance and creates a new one.
Problems like this should be really rare and are usually caused by ExifTool "getting stuck" when processing a file with really badly corrupted metadata.

Since all errors reported in your log file are for failures during write-back.
When ExifTool writes back a file it creates a copy of the file with a temporary name, does all the changes and checks, and when everything worked fine, deletes the original file and renames the temporary file to the original file name.

On of the first checks it does is if it can write the file. This "fails fast", and ExifTool reports the problem back to IMatch.

Since ExifTool hangs 120 seconds each time in your case, I that that your virus checker is blocking ExifTool. And when IMatch notices that ExifTool did not do anything for 120s, it terminates the instance and starts a new one. Which is again blocked by your virus checker.

Please check the log files of your virus checker. Configure IMatchx64.exe and exiftool.exe (both in the C:\Program Files\photools.com\imatch6\ folder) as an exception and see if this makes the problem go away.
