Hi,

I have a scanner that will copy the back of photos if something is written on it.
Most of these photos show up as duplicates even though the text is different.

This is also the case with the same thing with PDF, DOC, and XLS files.

Is there some setting or process that will cause these to not show as duplicates?
Or do I just Unassign them from the dup category? I've used this last option but a rescan of the folders brings them back.

Thanks much,
Mike

The duplicates feature is really meant for 'real' images. Not for PDF files, DOCs or Excel documents. Or white pages containing only text They will all look the same or there is not even a preview.

If you manage that kind of files in your database, just disable the automatic detection of duplicates in Edit menu > Preferences > Indexing.

And maybe run a separate search for duplicates from the Search menu when needed.

Thanks for the prompt response.

I don't want to block duplicate searches since most of my DB is imagery.

Actually, I've figured it out.

1 Select the items that are textual
2 Search for COPIES.
3 remove any dups
4 Search for COPIES again and you should get null results
5 Remove those items from the dup category.
