[UE] Can not assign faces to people who were imported

I found no way to assign a face to a person who was imported.

You don't assign faces to persons, you assign persons to faces.
How was the person imported and from where?

I exported all people. I deleted al people.
Then I importet the people. (I was just learning/testing this functionality).
The imported people appeared in the people view showing no files.

But this becomes almost useless because I can not assign a face to a person.

This is the expected behavior.
As soon as you start assigning persons to faces, IMatch will assign additional files.

If you say "I can not assign a face to a person", what do you actually do?
Do you work in the Viewer? Select a face? Press <F2> to open the person assignment dialog? What do you do, what are the results, what does IMatch do?

Yes I select the face in the viewer.
Found my problem. I can not select Add new person - I just have to type in the name
and click on the name when it appears.
In hindsight logical - Imatch can not yet give me a probable selection of names to select from!

If you press <F2> to open the person selector, the Add Person button is always enabled, even if no name is selected. It just opens the "Person Editor" with an empty name and tag in this case.

Usually you type (part of) a person name and when the person does not exist, you click "Add person" to add one, using the typed in name as the base. But it works either way. Is the button grayed out or anything



No name entered, but Add Person button is enabled and works.

I did not explain sufficiently the matter with the Add Person:
When I used Add Person I could not create a link to an existing person - it created the entered person
again (with a different tag).
Typing in the name results in displaying the name of existing persons which I then click to create the link.

Problem solved!

I don't follow. But it it is solved, I close this bug report.

When you enter something, the dialog searches existing persons by label and tag. It also shows the last recently assigned persons on the right.
